Deanna told me as we began the reading that she felt she was ready for a new relationship in her life.  Here are a few notes I took:
-M
ale in 12th Century in the Middle East
-Name:  Jamal

-From a very wealthy family
-At the age of 12, he decided to become a Monk/Holy man and travelled to the temple/mosque to train with a Spiritual Leader. Takes a vow of celibacy at this time.
-At 16, his Spiritual Leader dies and he is sent back home to his village, parents and 3 sisters.
-He quickly learns his father’s business (some type of precious metals, spices, etc) and is kind of a math genius.  His father learns to lean on him and he runs the business, as his sisters marry and leave home.
-There is a girl who his parents want him to marry and he is “not interested.”  (The exact words I heard.) He refuses to marry.
-At 25, his father dies suddenly and he lives out his days running the business, taking care of his mother for the rest of her life and becoming a type of spiritual leader for his village, as well.

Making the most of this reading involves asking a few questions and journaling:

-How to I honor Jamal’s past? What was in Jamal’s tool box that I can use today?

-How do I put to work the wisdom learned from this snapshot into Jamal’s life?

-How do I look forward to my life now and in the future, as a combination of Jamal AND Deanna? (I also got very clearly:  How do I let go of having to defend myself? Deanna confirmed that this resonated.) I also shared the following:

Journaling around anything that particularly interests you or repels you would be advantageous.  Remember “what we resist, persists,” so write it out and get as much from the experience as you can!

At the end of the reading, Deanna said that she had visited Egypt a few years ago and was very emotional as she entered a Mosque. As this memory clicked into place, she realized that she had lived a life as a holy man in Egypt all those years ago.

I also invited her to journal any feelings around Jamal’s decision to remain celibate.  Perhaps be open to letting go of that part of her eternal self, so that she can find a new love in this present life.

I always go to Philip Permutt with my questions.  He is a British crystal expert who has written several books and has a great website, as well:  http://www.thecrystalhealer.co.uk/

Or, if I am away from my office, I also have a site I enjoy:  www.crystalvaults.com  You can go to that site and put your search term in the search bar.  Here are a few of my favorites for Self-Love, Self-Confidence and Courage:

·         Rose Quartz

·         Citrine

·         Moonstone

·         Sunstone

·         Rhodochrosite

·         Carnelian

·         Clear Quartz

Clear quartz goes with just about any crystal prescription or recipe, because it amplifies or enhances any crystal you put with it.  Look for crystals on Etsy or a local rock shop or metaphysical store.  I have had really good luck on Etsy when I know what I’m looking for and carefully read the dimensions of the stone or the size of the beads.

You can even get beaded bracelets made out of most of the crystals listed above on Etsy and Amazon.  If you like to make jewelry, you can buy the beads and string them yourself!

Thanks for writing to ask about crystals.  I’ve been studying crystals for about twenty years and I love learning even more about Mother Nature's natural healers!

When PA wrote me, I responded and asked for her birth info, including birth date, time and place.  With this information, I charted her natal blueprint, which is a kind of snapshot of what the heavens looked like on the exact minute she was born.  From here, I can show her a type of map of her best qualities, motivations, inclinations and other tools for living her best life.

From her birth data, I learned the following, and keep in mind that I am only sharing a portion of what I learned:

Sun – Taurus in the 11th House of friendship, community and groups

Moon – Gemini in 12th House of dreams, inner-self, spirituality and higher purpose

Rising Sign – Cancer

Midheaven – Aries

With a Sun in Taurus in the 11th House, PA places a huge emphasis on her friends, her community and her tribe.  With a Taurean flavor, she is practical, dependable and works steadily to accomplish her goals. She is very interested in working to improve the lives of those around her.  Her Gemini Moon gives her a love for variety and new ideas.  She has a busy mind that loves to multitask and is happiest when aligned with a greater vision that matters to her on a Soul level.

With a Rising Sign in Cancer, PA is compassionate, protective and nurturing.  Some possible areas she might enjoy are: nurse, counselor, coach, social worker, HR manager, EMT, safety manager for manufacturing company or care giver for the elderly.

Her “career line” or Midheaven is in the sign of Aries, which is the first sign of the Zodiac, refers to Spring and being on the leading edge. It is also a Fire Sign, which means that PA loves to “fire others up” and may also enjoy a career where she inspires others to be their best selves.

When I shared this information (and much more regarding other planets, such as Pluto, Venus, Mercury and Mars) PA immediately beamed with excitement!  She is wanting to pursue a career as a social worker!   She was thrilled with the idea that her personal Soul Compass is going to guide her through her college years and into her career as a social worker.

How to Be Loving - What I'm Reading . . .

Last Fall I received an email from Danielle LaPorte about her new book, How to Be Loving: As Your Heart Is Breaking Open and Our World Is Waking Up.  My response was “yes, I need this,” so I pre-ordered the book right away.

When it came, I saw how thick it was and immediately thought about all the other books on our bookshelves. But, I knew this one was different.

Actually, I ordered two copies of this book, one for me and one to give away. After only 10 days reading a chapter a day, I gave the second copy to my best friend. This book is truly a treatise on how to heal your Inner Child with love, so you can live your best life. Every day I read a chapter and record the gems of wisdom I receive in my special journal that I set up just for this book.

A little more information from her publisher:

A heart centered life is a reflective life, and when we live more reflectively, we operate less reactively. With her signature relatability, Danielle LaPorte turns self-help right side out. “Don’t try to life hack your way through fear–that only creates more fear.” And stop suppressing your ego: “It will put up a fight, but the ego just wants to be loved–integrated, not segregated.”

The bestselling author explains why self-acceptance is counterculture, how virtues can turn into dangerous vices, and why healing is a nonlinear process that leads to gentleness. The most liberating message might be, “We don't need to focus on ‘fixing’ ourselves. As we focus on living from our heart center, anything that’s not in alignment with that light will fall away.”

Designed with reflective practices and inspirational mini posters, the tone is calm and steady, but there’s an urgency to this content. “The heart-mind is our greatest and often most neglected form of intelligence," teaches Danielle. “There’s no polarization in the heart space. It can hold fear and compassion, shadow and light–yours and theirs. We’re yearning to come into balance with love. It’s the antidote to polarization.”

LaPorte examines the misidentifications that cause suffering and helps us identify with our Divine Nature. “You are not the wound. You're the healer.” Her wisdom is relief in anxious times.

Ladies, I buy a LOT of books. I’ve read a LOT of spiritual books, hoping for something to heal my broken heart and guide me on a better way to live. And now I've found some relief. By applying the rituals and healing tools that Danielle shares, I am healing myself a little every day. My favorite passage so far is the “The Wound-to-Healing Sequence.”

Brilliant and Magical and so, so Healing . . . Thank you, Danielle!

Moonology Diary - Planning My Manifesting With the Moon in 2023

This will be my fourth year to work with Yasmin Boland’s Moonology Diary.  It is the only diary or workbook that I have started on January 1 and continued using throughout the year.  Unless I am ill or out of town (and forgot to take it!) I consult or work in this diary every day.  It’s that powerful and helpful for my journey. Yasmin takes the idea of manifesting with the energy of the Moon to another level and gives you the tools and tips to apply it in your personal and professional lives.

I spent about an hour today reading the introduction and Yasmin has added quite a lot of information on the astrological weather for the year 2023. Last year’s intro was 18 pages and this year’s intro is 38 pages. She’s redesigned the book somewhat and it looks to be even more conducive to working with on a daily basis.  The weekly spreadsheet has been reduced to 1 page, to allow the other page to be used for a weekly affirmation and other astrological info for the week.

The most beneficial element that has supported me is the key called “How to Work with the Energy of this Full (New) Moon”.   When you follow your Rising Sign, which always starts at the 1st House in your Natal Chart, you can see where that Full or New Moon will hit for you personally.  Yasmin has a list of the Houses for Full Moons and New Moons and you can check to see what will be activated for you.

Get your copy from HayHouse.com or Amazon.  When you get it, go to her website

https://magic.moonology.com/get-your-moonology-diary-2023

and input your order or receipt number and get access to her Moonology Diary bonuses. This includes Meditations, worksheets and access to live workshops or rituals she has planned for the year. These goodies are only available for those people who purchase her current Moonology Diary.

Yasmin is one of the most generous astrologers out there.  She has a Free Moonlite Collective Group and Free membership site for her followers.  (She also has a paid site for more goodies!) There is also a free FB site for those who buy the current year Moonology Diary.  She also has other free FB groups.

If you want even more Moonology goodness, you can also take Yasmin’s Moonology Certification Coursework with HayHouse.com.  I completed this class in 2021 and really enjoyed learning even more about manifesting with the Moon.

I’d love to hear what you think about the Moonology Diary and how you are using the magic of the Moon to manifest the life you want in 2023.

Courage

The card I drew yesterday from the Osho Zen deck was #8 Courage.  Usually called the Strength card in other decks, it's interesting how this deck focuses in on "Courage". Key words are courage, calmness, quiet and graceful leadership.

The image on the card is a flower, sprouting from rocks.  It rises to meet the sun, without worry, without thinking it is less than the sun. It simply grows and exposes its majestic self.

As a seed, it doesn't even know that the flower is possible! Yet, it cracks open and sprouts, beginning the process of creating the beautiful flower. When the seed cracks open, it could be washed away, not get enough sun, be damaged as a young sprout.  A million things could happen! But, the seed keeps going, opening to the possibilities.

"When we are faced with a very difficult situation we have a choice:  we an either be resentful and try to find somebody or something to blame for the hardship, or we can face the challenge and grow." (pg 18 Osho Zen Tarot Guidebook)

"Don't be guided by your lizard brain," one guidebook for another deck says.  It also mentions a warning about giving in to self-destructive tendencies!  Instead, bring forward your strength and compassion and use these qualities for good.

There is really no point to fighting life's challenges and nothing to be gained by trying to avoid them.

In order to become the flower I am destined to be, I must go through them, GROW through them and stretch to reach the sun . . .

Crystals for Healing and Support – Petalite

Last week for my daily card draw, I drew the card “Petalite” from Colette Baron-Reid’s Crystal Oracle Deck.  I was not really familiar with this crystal, so I enjoyed reading about it. It's a beautiful crystal that comes in pink, white, gray or mixed colors.  Reminds me a little of Moonstone.

In Colette’s guidebook, she shared that Petalite supports us and provides:

“The ability to detach, the Observer, the impersonal quality of the Universe.”

“Petalite gives us the ability to step back and observe with detachment and neutrality.  There is a place within you that allows you to observe without emotion. See the world through the lens of acceptance.”

What if we were able to do just that?  Observe, with no judgment, no complaining, no overwhelm.  By calling upon the spirit of this crystal, we can step back and process what is in front of us and from that space, make a choice and take steps on our own timetable.

What if we are too close to a relationship?  Step back and observe the relationship between the two of you and pause. Sometimes, you don’t have to do anything.  Sometimes, you don’t have to change.  Just be patient.  Petalite can support this.

“Petalite is a stone that assists us in learning how to be the Observer.”

Another source talks about how Petalite supports the crown chakra and balances the pineal gland and both sides of the brain.  This helps us balance intuition and intellect.

My favorite crystal mentor, Philip Permutt,

You can meditate on the properties of this crystal, wear this crystal as jewelry or carry a piece in your pocket.  All are great ways to work with this crystal. I found a rough piece and a tumbled, smooth piece on Etsy and both arrived inside of a week.

Finally, I checked my “crystal Bible” which is written by my favorite crystal mentor, Philip Permutt:

“Originating in Brazil or Madagascar, Petalite combats clumsiness and gives you the courage of your convictions. Good for eyelids, eyebrows and muscle and joint flexibility. It can also bring peace of mind and spiritual connection to the Divine, angels, spirit guides and totem animals. Good for meditation, because it helps you stay grounded. . . and all psychic abilities.”

As I ask with EVERY crystal I love:  Where can I get a bucket of that?

Wednesday, November 4, 2020

It’s time for Annual Performance Reviews at my company and I dread them every year.  This year, the whole process went a little more smoothly and I began to question why.

Then, it hit me:  I’ve made a practice of journaling every day for most of the past year.  Also, in 2019 and some of 2020, I made it a goal to re-read A Course in Miracles.

A Course in Miracles or ACIM, as some people know it, is a channeled text that was published in 1976 by Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford.  Here’s a little about the text:

A Course in Miracles is a modern-day program for healing the Mind, removing all judgment, learning to trust the Higher Self/Holy Spirit/Intuition, and coming to consistent Peace of Mind.”
–David Hoffmeister

The Course was initially scribed and typed up during the years of 1965–1972 by two professors of Medical Psychology at Columbia University: Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford. With the aid of Ken Wapnick, Robert Skutch, Judith Skutch Whitson, and philanthropist Reed Erickson, “the Course” was published on June 26, 1976 (by the Foundation for Inner Peace) and has gone on to sell over 3 million copies in 25+ languages.

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a self-study program with a unique approach, designed to bring a consistent state of happiness and peace to the student through the application of its principles. These principles can seem radical and “not of this world.” However, this uncompromising approach is very effective for those looking to heal abandonment, victimhood, and any other seeming lifelong issues.

Following the intentional and careful structure laid out in A Course in Miracles leads inevitably to an experience beyond words. As the Course states, “A universal theology is impossible, but a universal experience is not only possible but necessary. It is this experience toward which the course is directed.” C-in.2:5-6 The simplicity of this statement becomes evident through the study of the Course.

The practice of A Course in Miracles can be like climbing a ladder. Each rung represents a new realm of understanding where beautiful pearls of wisdom have more depth the higher one climbs. Another simple, yet profound theme, from the introduction of ACIM:

“This Course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.”

Quite unlike any other book or study material I've ever encountered, ACIM really does meet you where you are and then takes you by the hand and leads you lovingly and patiently to a place of peace and a type of higher understanding.

You can buy the book from any bookseller or go online to read it for free:

https://awakening-mind.org/resources/a-course-in-miracles/

There is even a site that offers an audio version.  I did that one year and started my day at my office by listening to the daily lesson.

https://acourseinmiraclesnow.com/workbook-lesson-1/

ACIM has changed my life.  By reading and rereading the text multiple times in my life, I have come to an even deeper understanding of myself and divine truths that I can now claim as my own.

I was hemming a top yesterday, after I cut it off to make it shorter to hang better with a cardigan.  When I turned it over and saw the small stiches, I was immediately taken back to childhood.  A wave of love washed over me, and I had to stop for a moment.  Those hand stitches reminded me of my Mom and her loving care as she made 21 dresses each summer for 3 little girls. Later, she would make polyester pantsuits (in the ‘70’s) and later hot pants!  She made church dresses and graduation outfits and prom dresses.  She even made bridesmaid dresses for my sister’s wedding and two of my weddings.

My mom and I haven’t always had a good relationship.  As the oldest of three girls, I was the rebel. She said that even as a little girl, I always asked “Why?”  I always challenged her and just about everything!  When Dan Brown’s DaVinci Code came out and she read it, she called me to say that when I was really little, I asked, “Mama, is Mary Magdalene Jesus’s girlfriend?” As a Southern Baptist, she considered such talk blasphemous.

We argued a lot. I acted out a lot.  I got spanked a lot.  I got my mouth washed out with soap a lot. Yet, she made me 7 dresses every summer, just as she did for my two sisters.

I went to college and lived at home, so any time I was late or caught with alcohol on my breath, I was in BIG trouble.  It happened quite a bit, I’ll admit.

Do you understand that my mom and I weren’t close? So, when I saw those stitches and felt the wave of love pour over me, I better understood that she SHOWED her love in those stitches.

In the loving care that went into each little school dress and later special dresses and outfits for precious occasions.

And so those stitches remind me of Love.  Love that was hard for her to show me, but now I know that it was there . . .

A prior client and Reiki student contacted me for a past life reading last week.
She was currently struggling with shingles, yet she was determined to reopen her healing arts practice.  On the day of the reading, she wrote me to say that the pain was quite severe and asked if I would do the reading and send her the recording.

This was a unique request, so I ask my Guides and Angels and received a resounding “Yes!”

I set up my recorder and shuffled the cards.  I did the reading, as if the client was on the other end of the phone.  Rather than pausing for comments or questions, I channeled the reading nonstop from start to finish. I used my current favorite deck:  The Light Seer's Tarot.

The reading was clear and concise.  The woman had been a young woman in Africa who had been shunned by her family for being “different.” She was adopted by another family, the patriarch of which was a town elder and a type of medicine man.

He taught her many things during her life and she taught him about Nature and the trees and healing people from the land. The young woman would spend hours in nature, sitting with her back against a tree, meditating and communing with Nature.

It was an amazing reading and when I heard from the client later, she shared that she had always loved trees:  talking to trees, sitting with trees, listening to trees!

With some of the other information that was shared about that life in Africa so long ago, she now knows that she can use the talents, skills and qualities of that woman to help build her healing arts practice.

What can you learn from one of YOUR past lives to help and support you now?

Call on Your Angels & Guides for Support

Steve had a client last week who was so depressed over failing a test multiple times.  He called me and asked if I could help the person in any way.

I usually do a 3 card reading for myself with either an Oracle Card Deck or a Tarot Deck.  I am currently exploring the Light Seer’s Tarot by Chris-Anne and have been pulling 3 cards each day. That day, I did my regular card reading and then I was nudged to do another reading, regarding another matter in my life around 10 AM.  Since I was away from my home office, I did the reading with an app I have on my phone that features the Chrysalis Tarot by Toney Brooks.  I drew 3 cards, did the reading, recording my thoughts and key excerpts from the guidebook and put it away.

When Steve called me, I instantly knew that the second reading was for his client.  I put the reading together in written form and took photos of the cards.  I also meditated and asked how I could be of service.

At 6 PM, I called the person and first shared the reading.  (I texted the photos of the cards, so he could enjoy connecting with the visual elements.) He was very open and especially loved the card that featured a woman who appeared to be enveloped in angel wings.  I was led to talk to the person about his Why?  “Why do you want to pass this test?  What will it mean to you and how will you use the certification you will earn?

Our conversation lasted only 12 minutes.  Yet, I could feel the relief on his heart and mind.

I followed up by sending the info in an email from the cards that I shared:

4 of Scrolls – Wrapped in your angel’s wings, you are safe, you are loved and you are provided for. Recollection: remembering what you already know.

Celtic Owl – The Owl’s wisdom is yours, as you ask for a new perspective and open your mind to new ways of thinking. Quiet your mind and ask. Go with what you get. Don’t second guess. Don't change a single answer! Rebirth: A new opportunity is coming for you!

Wheel of Fortune – You’re at an important point in your life.  Recall past experiences where you were successful. Focus on that feeling and know that the Universe has your back.  Consequence: Success is yours! You’ve got this!

1.Angel

2.Spirit Animal (Owl)

3.Divine Assistance.

Focus on your why . . . it will lead the way to success!

Remember we talked about our desires of the heart and how when God gives us a desire of the heart, He gives us a way to achieve it!  I truly believe this! You’re gonna crush it!

Recite this a few times tonight and again tomorrow:

I know I am blessed.

Life is an adventure.

The world is my oyster.

What magic and miracles am I open to receive today?

How does it get any better than this?

His test was one week later.  He wrote both Steve and me to say that he passed!

I love how Spirit works with my Guides and Angels and the client’s Guides and Angels to provide wisdom and guidance for our everyday journey. My guides had me do something I’ve never done before, so that I was ready for this call, later in the day.

As my husband Steve is fond of saying, “You can’t make up this stuff!”

Past Life in India Helps a Woman Claim Confidence to Open a Business

Channeled another incredible past life reading today!  I always love how Spirit shows up and gives you details of a past life and the information can support you both now and in the next stage of your life.

The person was shown a life in India in the 1400’s.  She was a wealthy young woman, who lost her parents and her family fortune in one fail swoop!  Another wealthy family adopted her and she gained two siblings and the chance to study and become a teacher. At the age when most young women would marry, she was presented 3 suitors and she turned two of them down.  To the third she said that she wanted him to help her build a school, which he did!  She did not marry him for 20 years! She taught and managed the school and helped hundreds of children.  Later, her niece was educated and trained to take over the school.  She made the most of a life that cast her as an orphan and then gave her a chance to fulfill her dreams.

When I felt into the energy of the man who would be her life partner and later husband, I felt “uncle” and asked her if she had an uncle in this current life, with whom she is/was very close.  Yes, she said, although her uncle passed away about 20 years ago. She misses him a great deal and loved hearing this.

She had a wonderful life and saw the confidence, fortitude and persistence displayed by the woman.  Interestingly, it was confidence that she was seeking to start a new chapter in her life.  She has dreams of opening her own business and now she knows she can.

She also met a Spirit Guide, who was a tiny fairy, with the exuberant energy of a 17 year old, ready to help her take a leap into this new part of life.  She was told to call on her Guide often and connect especially outside in Nature. Her Guide kept showing me her fairy-like self, energetic and ready to fly!

At the very end, we pulled a card for a Spirit Animal and she received Frog Spirit.  This animal guide asks you to clear out the clutter, move forward and take a leap!

I found it so interesting that I heard "take a leap" 3 times during her past life reading.  I told her: “You are SO ready for what's next!  So, claim the confidence, fortitude and persistence embodied by your past life self and go for it!”

I am always so grateful to clients for allowing me to read for them and share a tiny part of their journey.

Crystals for Healing and Emotional Support

All of the years that I was buying crystals and making jewelry for myself and others, I was intuitively using crystals for emotional support and healing.  In 2015, I felt led to take some training and chose to work with Michelle Welch at SoulTopia Academy.  I earned my Level 1 and Level 2 certifications with Michelle in crystal healing.   Now I make crystal selections in a more conscious fashion, although I still rely on my intuition to guide me in some instances.

When a relative passed away in the summer of 2015, I collected some crystals for grief and put them in a silk bag in my purse.  I also wore two yellow calcite bracelets, which support grief and grieving. After the funeral, I flew home and reflected on how I felt. This is what I told my husband Steve:  “I felt supported.  I felt that with the essential oils and crystals, I was held in the arms of my angels and was free to feel my feelings, without the fear of being overwhelmed.” (Essential oils can also support your emotional health and healing.  More on that later.)

What are some other crystals to use for emotional support and healing?  Well, you can always Google “crystals for ______” and get lots of information. There are also wonderful crystal bibles and books available.  I recommend those by Adrienne Goff, Philip Permutt and Judy Hall.  Go to Half Price Books and ask your friends what crystal books have supported their growth.

There are many ways that you can use a crystal or stone. Choose a method that is comforting and easy for you to do.

Here are some ideas:
1. Hold it in your hand and close your eyes for a few seconds. As you feel your feelings, allow the power of the stone to support you.  Then, ask the crystal to alleviate your pain and gently clear the energy. Lepidolite or Lithium Quartz are my favorite crystals for soothing myself or calming anxiety.  I also love Rose Quartz and it is very inexpensive to obtain.
(Here is a photo of Lithium Quartz.)

2. Carry one or two stones in your pocket. I usually carry a Black Tourmaline in my pocket for negativity or negative people. I also carry Rose Quartz and my Lithium Quartz.
3. Put a crystal under your pillow for healing while you sleep. You can also place crystals on your nightstand, dresser or around your home for healing and to add beauty.

4. Buy beads of the crystals and make a bracelet or a necklace to soothe and heal yourself. Lapiz is one of my favorites.  However, I have LOTS of necklaces and bracelets in all colors.(Just ask my husband, Cowboy Psychic Steve Spur!)

5. Hold a crystal during meditation or sit it on a table or shelf nearby.  Amethyst or Smokey Quartz are good to use.  Another favorite is Clear Quartz, because it amplifies any other stone.
It's fun to go to a "rock shop" or metaphysical store that sells crystals and let a crystal "pick" you.  Then, you can research the crystals you took home and learn more about yourself and how crystals can support you in your healing and growth.

A simple rule of thumb is to buy a crystal in the color that corresponds to the chakra you may be wanting to heal or balance.

When you schedule a Guidance Reading or Coaching Session, I may refer to specific crystals or gemstones that your Guides & Angels recommend for your journey.

Oracle of the 7 Energies - My New Deck!

Good morning! I haven’t written in my blog in quite some time. Life happens, busy with projects at my “day job” and busy with Coffee & Cards and other sessions with clients.
What is Coffee & Cards? It is a weekly get together with our Tribe in Waxahachie, to share 3 card readings for ourselves. We do these readings with Angel and Oracle cards. Previously, we were meeting at Fresh Market Kitchen & Coffee in Waxahachie. The pandemic changed all that.
Now, we meet on Zoom! Every Saturday morning at 10 AM CST, we meet and share our “HERO” card from our 3 card reading. I do a reading for myself, making notes and highlighting key insights. Then, I share my “HERO” card with the group, when it is my turn to share during the weekly meeting.
What is a “HERO” card? Well, it’s the card that:
· Stands out
· Resonates most deeply
· Really “speaks” to you
· Jumps out of the deck when you are shuffling or pulling cards
For example, last Saturday, I pulled 3 cards from my brand new Oracle of the 7 Energies Deck by Colette Baron-Reid:
-Earth Magic
-A Merry Motive
-The Land Between
Earth Magic jumped out at me and said, “pick me, pick me!” It is an illustration of two feet on the ground, with legs crossed at the ankles, as if in a dance pose. In fact, I first thought I saw ballet shoes on the feet! There are stars both up above the ground and down below, with the root system. The idea is that once you are “grounded” manifesting is easy! By being grounded, we are able to realize our goals and desires. Being grounded in Nature, you are safe within the quiet, dark place where magic begins, where EVERYTHING begins.

In the guidebook that accompanies the cards, Colette shares that “The Earth is a conscious, living thing that does miraculous things!” I am a part of the Earth and she is a part of me. So, I can imagine anchoring my energy to this truly magic place.
Especially during the pandemic, where so many of us are floundering, hiding, coasting or whatever you call this “in-between” time we are in, it is good to be anchored in the Earth.
What if, instead of feeling BURIED in the dark, I envision myself as PLANTED in the nutrient rich, magical soil, where my seeds are germinating, ready to sprout in a few months?
I am grateful for new awareness and new ways of reframing this passage of my life . . .

Will the "True" PJ Spur Please Stand Up!

I opened my Birch Box this morning and before I threw the big box away, something caught my eye. It was addressed to:

The True PJ Spur

How cool!

The “True” PJ Spur. That is so affirming. Then, I began to ask myself, “Who IS the “True” PJ?

Is she the little girl who loved to play outdoors in the backyard with her sisters?

Is she the pre-teen who skateboarded to her grandmother’s house and back with a casserole or something from that wonderful kitchen?

Is she the young business woman who was blazing trails in Corporate America in the ‘70’s?

Is she the young mom with two kids, balancing home, work and Sunday School teaching duties?

Is she the woman who blinks and finds herself with grand daughters and the title of “Mimi”?

Yes, I am all of these and so much more.

This is the “True” PJ Spur, reporting for duty on Planet Earth . . .

Past Lives In India - Do You Have One?

On Sunday, I attended a play called "The Red Pashmina." It was an interesting study in past lives, reincarnation and how two soul mates meet again and again over time.

It began with a hypnotist bringing a young man out of a regression, as he sputtered and gasped for air. His past life included being thrown overboard at sea!

The play went on and on, through the ages in India. These two souls, one female and one male, kept meeting and then being separated by circumstances or other people. It was truly harrowing to watch.

When the hypnotist brought in a female client, I began to see what might be happening. Yes, her memories were similar to his memories and when a name was similar, the hypnotist had a wonderful idea.

The main theme of the play represented that we are bound to repeat old patterns until we become aware of them and make conscious change.

The dancing and costumes were so fun. I really enjoyed the play and the lesson it also taught in a very gentle and compassionate way.

Although I have seen 16 of my past lives, I have never seen one set in India. Perhaps I need to investigate this corner of the world and see what treasure awaits me.

I love facilitating past life regressions and life between life journeys. For more info, visit www.soulrevelations.com

Compassion for Myself

Over the past few months, I’ve been reading Talk to Yourself like a Buddhist, by Cynthia Kane.

This book is available on Amazon:

https://tinyurl.com/yanrmf73

I love books like this, because not only do you get the author’s knowledge and experience in the subject matter, you also get exercises to ground what you learn and give you tools for growth.

The chapter on the Practice of Listening really spoke to me. Do you really listen when you hear those words you say to yourself, over and over? What themes are you reprising?

For example, here is a list of themes that you might be featuring and one negative statement for each:

Relationships
I am unloveable.

Physical Appearance
I am ugly

Work/Education/Finances
She is more successful than I am

Personal Development
I meditate daily, but I still get angry in traffic!

So, to quote Cynthia Kane, “Fire the Drill Sargent and Hire the Cheerleader!” Every time you “hear” a negative admonition, replace it with something positive.

Although I am a long way from totally eliminating negative self-talk, I AM listening and I AM catching myself more and more. When I bring in the Cheerleader and high five myself, the days go better!

Send compassion to yourself, as well as others!

Mindfulness & Meditation Retreat - Retreat in the Pines

My daughters and I spent the weekend at a beautiful retreat center in East Texas: Retreat in the Pines.

https://retreatinthepines.com/

We ate delicious, healthy, locally grown food, enjoyed meditation and yoga practices in a variety of settings, learned new ways to slow down and unplug and met new Soul Companions.

Our drive from the Dallas/Fort Worth area was about two hours. As we drove further and further, the landscape became greener and greener, with tall pines, sycamores and live oaks reaching to the sky. We treated ourselves by stopping at the Dairy Palace in Canton and I had the BEST peach ice cream I’ve ever eaten!

Along side Blue Bell, the Dairy Palace also offered Henry’s Homemade Ice cream and every bit of my peach ice cream included little bits of fresh peaches. Yummy!
A few miles further, we were directed off of the main road and saw the sign for The Waldo Way Dairy Farm. We passed beautiful, fawn and white colored Guernsey cows, gently grazing on both sides of the road. This farm boasts yogurt, milk and butter. Maybe the next time we visit East Texas, we can stop in! Here is their website for more info:

https://www.thewaldoway.com/

Theresa Polley has created the perfect retreat center, with everything that today’s woman needs to relax, recharge and re-energize her life. The modern cedar Main House has a full kitchen, community room, three bedrooms and 2 full baths. My daughters and I shared a bedroom with 3 twin beds, which was perfect for us. A large closet, night stands, lots of electrical plugs and nice bedding were available. Theresa even provided ear plugs! The bathroom offered nice towels, body wash and other niceties for our visit. Two bathrooms meant there was rarely a time when you couldn’t get into one! If it happened, there was a bathroom in the Dining Hall, one in the Yoga Studio and another one in the Guest Quarters.

The kitchen in the Main House was stocked with coffee, an assortment of teas and everything we needed to serve ourselves. A large refrigerator meant we could keep our waters, wine and other beverages cold.

The Dining Hall featured long wooden tables, put together in a U-shape that fostered lots of conversation and sharing. All meals were served buffet-style on a counter near the Staff Kitchen door.

A sweet woman named Sandy prepared all of our meals from scratch: nothing canned, microwaved or pre-prepared at Retreat in the Pines! Great veggies, homemade hummus, delicious fruit trays, fresh baked breads and whole grain chips and crackers. The food was truly amazing. Lots of dried fruits and nuts for snacks and delicious high-quality chocolates, also.

And wine! Did I mention that their slogan is “Yoga, Wine and Laughter”? Theresa puts out several nice white and red wines each evening. Guests are also encouraged to bring their own favorite wines. And, if you forgot to BYOB, there are several nice wineries within driving distance of the retreat grounds. In fact, there are 19 wineries on the Piney Woods Wine Trail that covers the area all around the Retreat center.

https://www.pineywoodswinetrail.com/

For all meals and snack occasions, nice glassware is used, in keeping with Theresa’s eco-friendly philosophy. In fact, we ate on nice plateware, had cloth napkins, glass drinking glasses and glass coffee mugs. Everything that isn’t recycled is added to the compost pile, with only a small amount of trash left over each day.
Theresa grows herbs on site and sources the chicken, vegetables and fruit locally, as much as possible. Someone on her staff bakes all of the breads they serve. There are quite a few gluten free options, also.

I have been enjoying a modified vegetarian-style eating plan and I found a lot of options at every meal. The Sunday Gratitude Brunch was my favorite meal. Lots of creamy eggs, with cheese and guacamole to add. Fresh fruits, homemade coffeecake and two pots of coffee were never empty!

And massage! We scheduled massages with Jan Hauk of Galveston, who drives up for the weekend retreats. She was WONDERFUL!!! My daughter also enjoyed her massage with another practitioner.

We chose the Mindfulness & Meditation Retreat with Michelle Brazell, who has been practicing yoga since 2008 and teaching since 2011. Michelle has the most soothing voice and led us on some amazing meditation journeys. The Lovingkindness Meditation was my favorite. My daughter really enjoyed the combination Restorative Yoga with Letting Go Guided Meditation.

I really enjoyed the free time to wander all over the property, go on long walks and journal on the screened in porch or front porch swing. One of my daughters and I walked the tiny road that led to the gate and main road, seeing lots of beautiful vegetation, a campfire ring and lots and lots of the tallest trees I’ve ever seen. We had rain several times, but most was gentle sprinkles or light rain that we didn’t mind walking through. Very peaceful and calming.

We also had a chance to make some DIY aromatherapy sprays with their collection of essential oils and great recipes. Some of the ladies colored mandalas or affirmation papers and enjoyed a little break or some conversation with other retreat attendees. Afterwards, we enjoyed driving into the small town that was nearby to do a little shopping.

My favorite part of the weekend was getting to spend time with my daughters. We laughed and told stories on the two hour drive. We did card readings in the evenings and encouraged each other in the yoga practice sessions. We shared 5 meals together, took walks, stood on one leg in “tree pose,” shared our gratitude statements at the group dinner. It was truly amazing.

Thank you Theresa, Michelle and Sandy for a remarkable experience. We are already planning our next retreat with you at Retreat in the Pines.

Highlights from My New Book: Navigating Grief with Grace

On Tuesday, my friend Michelle Welch interviewed me on her A1R Psychic Radio Show and I shared a little about my new book, Navigating Grief with Grace. Here are my talking points:

1. What inspired you to write a book on grief?

I lost all 4 of my grandparents in a four year period in the late 60’s & early 70’s. My family is not really into feeling feelings or talking about feelings. We lost someone, had a funeral and got on with work and life. That was that!

When I was a Senior in High School, I did my Sr. paper on the American Way of Death, a book by Jessica Mitford, which is an expose and an exploration of the American funeral industry. I was fascinated by death and what happens when we die and had lots of questions that my family and church couldn’t answer. I also had a lot of feelings around the loss of my grandparents that no one helped me feel, process, heal and release. I even went to counseling for a short time in college, trying to deal with all of my feelings.

Then, as so often happens, I got busy with graduating from college, getting married and then divorced and then getting married again and having two daughters.

Fast forward to 2000, when I met my husband Steve and he told me that he heard voices and saw spirits. We began an adventure in studying mediumship and learning how to communicate with those on the other side. As we began to work with grieving people, the need for tools to help people grieve and heal became apparent. In 2008, I wrote an E-book on grief and led several workshops for grieving people. In 2015, I was led to update the book and publish it.

2. What is your best recommendation for the person who feels they will never turn the corner with the grief they are experiencing?
To allow yourself to feel what you feel, whatever you feel, for as long as you want to feel. No time limit is especially important. Someone put out the idea that it takes a year. On some levels that makes sense. Yes, it helps to go through birthdays, holidays, the death anniversary date and feel, process, heal and release your feelings. But, there is nothing set in stone about one year. I talked to a lady yesterday who is still in heavy grief over her mother’s death, which happened almost 4 years ago.

Remembering that there is no timetable seems to help a lot of people. Giving yourself permission to grieve is also important. We tend to be hardest on ourselves! So, give yourself the space to grieve. Also, give yourself the support system to grieve. If that is family, great. If your family is NOT the best support system, admit that to yourself and find a group. There are a number of groups, whether you have lost a child or a spouse or a pet.

You might also benefit from a support friend. I call this an accountability buddy. Or a spirit buddy or pal. There may be someone in your life right now who can fill that role for you. There may not be. That’s when groups like our Soul Compass Community or The Now Center or SoulTopia Classes can be so helpful. You go to these events with what I call “like-hearted friends” and you can find a friend or friends with whom you can share your grief, and feel, process, heal and release your feelings.

Now, with that as a base: 1.Giving yourself permission. 2.No timetable 3.Support person or group, you can use some of the tools in my book to support you on your grief journey.

3. Will you tell us a little about EFT and how it works?
EFT is an amazing modality that I found in 1999, after a breakup, when I was dealing with grief in a BIG way. You see, I had NEVER grieved for the losses of my grandparents, including my beloved Granny. Then, I never grieved the loss of my first marriage. Then, I never grieved the loss of my second marriage. When the guy I had dated for 3 years dumped me around the time of my birthday in November 1999, I cratered!!! I found a counselor on-line and did sessions with him and learned EFT.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It makes use of the body’s electrical pathways, also called meridians in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. The Chinese believe that everything we feel or witness, everything that is done to us or everything we do, is held in the body, along electrical pathways called Meridians. If your heart stops, the medical staff will use a defibulator to revive you, right? You may also know how an acupuncturist places small needles in the body to release blockages in your chi or prana or energy system? Well, you can use your fingers to tap and release energy blockages, also. EFT is also called Meridian Tapping or just “Tapping.”

By tapping on 10 different points on the face, torso and wrist, you can clear energy from 14 meridians. Each of these meridians represents an organ or organs and an emotion or emotions. It’s really very interesting and amazing. (Email me for directions)

I love EFT for its simplicity and effectiveness.

I have an audio on my website, just click “Grief” and find 4 different audios that support the tools in my book. One will take you through EFT, one is a meditation where you can meet one of your guides or angels and one is a meditation that helps with grief. The last audio is a basic meditation.

My website is: soulrevelations.com

4. What other tools do you recommend for grief?
In my book, you will also see a reference to meditation, writing letters to your friend or loved one who has passed, journaling and a few other tools, such as The Quick Coherence Technique from Heart Math.

5. What oils and crystals do you recommend for someone experiencing a "loss" of a loved one?
Well, I learned a lot about crystals for grief from you!!! (My friend and mentor, Michelle Welch of SoulTopia.guru) You really helped me when I lost my Uncle last August and I’ve since shared that recipe with lots of people. I think you start with Yellow or Honey Calcite, which also relates to the Archangel Azrael, the Angel of Grief. You have those wonderful bracelets made of yellow calcite and I find bracelets are one of the easiest ways to “arm” ourselves with crystals. Pun intended! Then, the recipe you shared with me that day is:

Yellow Calcite
Apache Tear
Smokey Quartz
Rose Quartz
Amethyst
Clear Quartz

You put those crystals in a small organza bag and I carried them with me in my purse for the entire day that I traveled to and from the funeral service in West Texas. I continued to wear my bracelets and carry the crystals for a week or two, as I continued to feel my feelings and grieve. Then, I carried a piece of yellow calcite and apache tear in my pocket for a few more weeks. I love the way you can carry crystals with you in pockets or purse or wear jewelry, such as bracelets or pendants or beaded necklaces.

I also talk about specific crystals for each of the symptoms of grief in my book. You may be dealing with:
-Disbelief and Shock
-Sadness - depression
-Guilt
-Bitterness
-Anger
-Fear
-Lack of Trust
-Physical Symptoms: insomnia, pain,
-Acceptance and Moving on
-Forgiveness

Essential Oils have also helped me with my grief journey and so I included them in my book, as well. I have a favorite recipe called Liquid Xanax, which I really love. I carry it with me daily and apply it 4 to 10 times a day, depending upon what is going on. That recipe is in my book or you can Google it and find it easily. I apply to the underside of my wrists, the "pulse points." Also, I inhale deeply 3X whenever I apply an essential oil. That sends the oils directly into the olefactory system and into the brain in just seconds. Within 20 minutes, the oils penetrate every cell in your body from the topical application. You can also diffuse essential oils in a water-based diffuser. There are lots of ways to utilize essential oils for physical and emotional symptoms.

In my book, I also share specific essential oils for each grief symptom, in case you don’t have access to doTERRA or Young Living essential oils and the great blends that they carry.

For example, Lavender is a great essential oil for calming and for support. Neroli is another one that is great for grief. Bergamot is another one. Did you know that Bergamot is what they put in tea to make it Earl Gray Tea?

You can see my book for at least one crystal and one essential oil for each symptom of grief and some general recommendations, as well.

5. Are all types of grief treated the same way?
Just as there are different and unique people, there are different types of grief. That’s why I give lots of different tools for the different symptoms and different passages of grief.

6. I know you are a past life regressionist, can that be beneficial for grief?

Sometimes. Of course, I believe that the key people in my life are also soul mates. I don’t believe that we have just one Soul Mate and that’s a whole other discussion!

When we lose a friend or loved one who is really close, we may feel that Soul-to-Soul connection more deeply. Many times, by reviewing a past life, whether in a regression or a reading, you can get a clue or key to why that person’s departure may be so grievous. In learning this information, getting that key can be very healing. However, I want to point out that in 10 years of facilitating past life regressions, I have never recommended this. It’s a very personal decision to visit your past lives and a person’s Higher Self or angels and guides will always nudge them to do so, when it will be beneficial. It is my belief that it is best to wait for this nudge and then facilitate the journey.

7. How can listeners get your book?

My book is available on Amazon as a paperback and Kindle and at places in DFW, such as SoulTopia, the Now Center’s Holistic Boutique and Holistic Connections in Waxahachie.

The book is Navigating Grief with Grace . . .

8. And how can they get in touch with you?
Easiest way is my website: soulrevelations.com or just Google: PJ Spur

If you have any questions about what I’ve shared or about my book, please contact me!
